St Magnus Cathedral is arguably the most iconic building in Orkney and is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the county. The Cathedral, however, has many different meanings for people. It is those meanings we wanted to record and capture.
The project therefore aimed to record people from a wide range of backgrounds who have had some connections with the Cathedral. This covered custodians who have worked at the building over the years, members of the congregation and elders, people who have been in the choir, ministers who have preached and still preach at the Cathedral, masons and other workmen who have looked after the fabric of the building and people who have performed in the Cathedral especially at the St Magnus Festival.
